Dropbox: Where Are Microsoft 365 Files Created in Dropbox Stored?

This article provides information on where Microsoft 365 files created in U-M Dropbox are stored.

Environment

U-M Dropbox, Microsoft 365

Issue

• When I create a Microsoft 365 file within Dropbox, where is it stored?
• Can I access the files from Microsoft 365 in addition to Dropbox?

Resolution

When you create Microsoft 365 files within U-M Dropbox, these files are only created and stored in Dropbox.

• The Microsoft file created cannot be found in OneDrive. It will only be accessible in Dropbox.
  • If you attempt to look for the file in OneDrive, you will not find it in either account.
    • Despite needing to log in to your Microsoft 365 account to edit your Dropbox-created Microsoft files, they are not synced with or stored in that account.
  • The file is not lost. You must log in to U-M Dropbox to find files.
