Issue
WiFi Calling is not functioning while connected to U-M WiFi
Resolution
WiFi calling is a carrier-provided feature which allows you to make phone calls and send text messages over the Internet via a WiFi connection. WiFi calling can be used while connected to the MWireless, eduroam, or MGuest WiFi networks.
If encountering trouble making or receiving calls while connected to U-M WiFi, please follow the steps below:
- Ensure your phone is connected to the MWireless, eduroam, or MGuest WiFi networks and has Internet access.
- NOTE: If connecting to the MGuest WiFi network, you should be prompted to open your phone's browser to accept the terms for connecting to the Internet. You must click "Accept" in order to gain Internet access while connected to MGuest and subsequently use WiFi Calling.
- Ensure WiFi Calling is activated on your phone. Carrier specific instructions are linked below:
- Verify whether your phone is able to make calls over the cellular network.
- NOTE: You may need to temporarily relocate to an area with adequate cellular coverage to do so.
- If you're unable to make calls over the cellular network despite adequate coverage, it will be best to reach out to your cellular carrier for support.
