Student Account Estimated Charges
Issue
Incoming students see a $3000 Tech Shop line item in their cost estimate, and believe they will be charged that amount from the Tech Shop.
Resolution
- This is a cost estimate only. It is not a bill.
- Students will only be charged if they make a purchase from the U-M Tech Shop, and it will only be for the cost of the item purchased.
- Some programs have suggested laptops or computing requirements, which is why this line item is added to some student's cost estimate.
