Issue
When a resource calendar I manage is invited to an event, I cannot respond to the invitation in the email. What can I do?
Resolution
If you have the "Make changes to events" or "Make changes and manage sharing" permissions on a Google resource calendar, you have access to respond to calendar invitations. However, Google will not allow you to respond/RSVP directly in the email notification sent to you via Gmail, as you can for your personal/secondary (non-resource) calendars. (Learn more about the difference between secondary and resource calendars in Google.)
To respond to the calendar invitation, you can do so either through the Calendar right-side panel in Gmail or directly on the resource calendar.
Respond with Google Calendar side panel in Gmail
- Open the email invitation for the resource calendar in Gmail.
- Click the event organizer who is listed at the top of the email (under the event title). This will open Google Calendar in the right side panel.
- Click Yes, No, or Maybe to respond on behalf of the resource calendar.
Respond from the resource calendar
- Open the email invitation for the resource calendar in Gmail.
- Click the View all guest info hyperlink in the body of the email (under the Guests header). This will open a new tab with the Calendar event
OR
- Go to U-M Google Calendar.
- Find the resource calendar in the left sidebar under "My calendars" or "Other calendars," then select it to view events (if it isn't already checked).
- Find the event and adjust the resource calendar's response as you would for any other calendar event.
