Okta Verify App for iOS or Android
Michigan Medicine customers who need assistance with Okta must contact HITS.
Issue
- Not receiving push
- Push is significantly delayed
- Push fails after approval
Resolution
Is your UMICH account shown in the Okta Verify app?
- Open Okta Verify on your device. Look for an account that displays your Uniqname and shows it is linked to UMICH.
Try using the "Enter a Code" option while troubleshooting push
- On the authentication screen, select "Verify with Something Else".
- Choose "Enter a Code".
- Open the Okta Verify app and enter one of the codes shown for your UMICH account.
Push Troubleshooting Steps
- Ensure notifications are turned on.
- Verify that the device has a stable network or mobile data connection by opening a mobile browser and navigating to okta.umich.edu. Restart network settings if necessary.
- Reboot the device.
- Confirm that the device's Date and Time settings are set to Network or Automatic.
- For Android devices, ensure that background data usage is enabled for the Okta Verify app in the app settings.
Additional Information
Note: If you have jailbroken your device or have custom security layers, that could also interfere with notification delivery.
