MiVideo: Can External Non-UM Guests Upload, Edit and Publish Media in Mediaspace?

Issue

I'm collaborating with an external guest to create, publish, and edit videos in MiVideo. How can a guest get upload, publish, and edit access to the MiVideo Mediaspace?

Note: these instructions only apply to the MiVideo Mediaspace at https://www.mivideo.it.umich.edu/. Other Mediaspaces are configured differently. If you have any questions about guest access to another Mediaspace please contact the ITS Service Center.

Your department will need to sponsor your guest. There are two types of sponsored affiliates: regular and temporary. Either type of sponsorship will grant upload, publish, and edit MiVideo access.

Once your guest has a sponsored account they will need to login to the Mediaspace at https://www.mivideo.it.umich.edu/ the first time for their MiVideo account to be created. This account will have the same level of access as staff, faculty and students.

Additional Information

Sponsored accounts can be video owners, video collaborators, and channel managers. If your guest has a temporary sponsorship be sure they transfer ownership or add you as a collaborator on any media they own before their sponsorship expires. You will also want to be added as a channel manager to any channels your guest manages.
