NVivo License Renewal Timeline Updated for UmichITAM Users

Environment

UmichITAM installs of NVivo software on Mac or Windows

Issue

UmichITAM NVivo licenses with installs prior to October 2023 will expire in June 2024, even though the correct expiration date is October 2024.

Resolution

For installs on personal computers:

The license expiration date can be updated to October 2024 by simply deactivating and reactivating the same license key. 

1. In NVivo, go to the 'NVivo' (or 'help' on Windows) menu and choose 'About'. This will display your current activation key. Copy it down.
2. Go to the 'NVivo' (or 'help' on Windows) menu and choose Licensing > Deactivate. This will deactivate NVivo and close it.
3. Open NVivo again which will bring up the license activation screen.
   1. Put in your activation key you copied earlier.
4. NVivo is now activated and will not expire until October 2024.

For installs on University-managed computers:

Please contact your Unit IT who can update or redeploy NVivo for you in order to update the expiration date.
