Issue

  • Can I access and use the Microsoft Project Pro/Standard app with my U-M Microsoft 365 account?
  • Can I connect the Microsoft Project app to my team in Microsoft Teams?

Resolution

Microsoft Project Pro/Standard is only available as a standalone desktop app and requires a university-owned device to purchase and install it. Refer to the ITS Software Store for more information.

Microsoft Project for the web retired on August 1, 2025. It is now part of Microsoft Planner, which U-M individuals can access on the web or add to their ITS-managed Microsoft Teams.

To add the Planner app to your Team:

  1. Click Apps from the left side panel of your Microsoft Teams desktop app.
  2. Find Planner from the list of available apps and click it. (It should be on the main page without having to search.)
  3. Select a Teams channel to add the app to and click Go.
  4. Click Save if prompted.

You can now create a new plan or add an existing plan to your Teams channel.
