Disable Browser Javascript Timers for Cisco Finesse to Solve Out of Sync Issue

Environment

Mac and Windows browsers for users of the Cisco Finesse call center application

Issue

Cisco Finesse user's status (i.e. Available, Talking, Wrap Up, Not Ready, etc) is out of sync.

Resolution

Follow the steps below to disable the Throttle Javascript Timer from multiple browsers to allow Cisco Finesse to operate correctly:

  • Disable the Throttle Javascript Timer from Internet Explorer
    • No workaround -- use alternate browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox)
  • Disable the Throttle Javascript Timer & Temporarily unexpire M89 flags from Google Chrome (see screenshot attached to this article**)
    1. Open Google Chrome
    2. The indented steps below only apply to Chrome version 90 and up:
      1. Type the following in the address bar: chrome://flags/#temporary-unexpire-flags-m90 [cut & paste]
      2. Set the flag for "Temporarily unexpire M90 flags" & "Temporarily unexpire M91 flags" to Enabled by selecting the appropriate value from the drop-down
      3. Click the Relaunch button in the bottom right
    3. (For Chrome versions below 90) Type the following in the address bar: chrome://flags/#intensive-wake-up-throttling [cut & paste]
    4. The flag should be the top one on the list. Set the flag to Disabled by selecting the appropriate value from the Throttle Javascript timers in background drop-down
    5. Click the Relaunch button in the bottom right 
  • Disable the Throttle Javascript Timer from Firefox
    1. Open Firefox
    2. Type the following in the address bar: about:config [cut & paste]
    3. Click the button Accept the Risk and Continue
    4. Search for the term 'throttle.enable' ( You should see the config for 'network.http.throttle.enable' )
    5. Verify the Value flag is set to False
  • Disable the Throttle Javascript Timer from Safari
    • No workaround -- use alternate browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox)
  • Disable the Throttle Javascript Timer from Edge
    1. Open Microsoft Edge
    2. Type the following in the address bar: edge://flags/#intensive-wake-up-throttling [cut & paste]
    3. Select DISABLED next to the Throttle Javascript timers in background option
    4. Restart browser
