Issue
You want to know how much a Michigan Online learning experience costs or whether you qualify for free U-M access.
Resolution
Open online courses and series: Cost depends on the course and the platform that hosts it. Review the course page for current details. Anyone may enroll, but some opportunities may charge for access or for a credential.
Teach-Outs: Teach-Outs are always free to anyone.
U-M students, faculty, staff, and alumni: Most non-credit open online courses featured on Michigan Online and hosted by Coursera or edX are free to the U-M community, but exceptions apply. Use the U-M Free Access option on the Michigan Online course page when available. If the “Enroll for free” option is not visible, the course or series requires payment.
For-credit certificate and degree programs: Tuition information is provided on the academic program page of the UM website.
Some courses are available only to specific U-M students. Courses connected to degree programs and for-credit certificate programs require payment because they lead to U-M credit.
