Does U-M offer tours of campus?
Central Campus Tour
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions offers a 75-minute walking tour of Central Campus, led by one of our current U-M student tour guides. Learn more on the Visit Campus webpage. Due to strict tour capacities, registration for campus tours is required and your party cannot exceed four total people. Unfortunately, walk-ins cannot be accommodated, nor do we have a waitlist for tours, but in the event of cancellations or if additional dates become available, the registration page will be updated to accurately reflect tour availability. We usually schedule walking tours two months out.
Find useful information regarding visiting Ann Arbor on our Maps and Directions webpage.
If you have additional questions regarding tours or need to cancel an already scheduled tour, please contact the Huetwell Visitors Center at 734-647-5692.
Information Sessions
Prospective first-year students: Information sessions for prospective first-year students — where you will receive an overview of U-M and the admissions process — are generally held each day a tour is offered (except Saturdays). To attend an information session, you'll need to register for a campus tour and select an information session time when you sign up. Attending an information session is not factored into our review process if you apply to U-M.
Prospective transfer students: Virtual Transfer Spotlight information sessions are designed specifically for prospective transfer students. The information covered focuses on transferring to the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts and the College of Engineering. If you are interested in a different school or college at Michigan, we recommend that you reach out to that school's admissions team directly to learn more about their application requirements.
Admitted students: Admitted students and their families should attend a Campus Day Program or an Admitted Student Tour instead of an information session.
School/College-specific Tours and Information Sessions
Some schools and colleges offer their own tours and/or information sessions, which are not scheduled in conjunction with the visit to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Please visit the websites below for more information.
Virtual Resources
If you are unable to attend an in-person tour and information session, check out our Virtual Resources webpage or take a virtual tour. You can also view a recorded information session and register for a live Admissions Q&A, led by an admissions counselor, where you'll be able to ask any questions you may have.
