Providing Proof of High School Completion

How do I submit proof of high school completion?

Proof of high school completion is required for all enrolling students at the University of Michigan. This requirement can be met through the submission of an official high school transcript with graduation date, a high school transcript and graduation certificate/diploma, or official high school equivalency exam scores. Please refer to our Requirements By Country webpage for additional certificates that may be required.

Transcripts may be sent via e-transcript vendors or directly from the issuing institution to transcripts@umich.edu. File size of attachments cannot exceed 10 MB. Transcripts must be sent directly from the issuing institution to our office in order to be considered official. In addition, documents not issued originally in English must be accompanied by an official English translation.

Alternatively, application materials can be mailed to:

University of Michigan
Office of Undergraduate Admissions
1220 Student Activities Building
515 E. Jefferson St.
Ann Arbor, MI 48109-1316

Transfer applicants must submit proof of high school completion in order for their application to be completed and considered for admission, regardless of how long they have been in college. The number of college credits you have accumulated before applying to U-M determines the weight given to your high school record during the selection process. The closer an applicant is to having 60 transferable credits, the less the applicant's high school work will be used in the evaluation.
