Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)

What would I study for a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at the Ross School of Business? How can I apply?

Learn business by doing business—right away. We believe the best way to learn is by doing. No other BBA program equals our opportunities to start, advise, invest in, and lead real-world businesses. We call this Ross Experiences in Action-Based Learning — REAL. For more information, we encourage you to explore the Ross BBA Program website and to reach out to RossUndergrad@Umich.edu with any questions.

The main pathway into Michigan Ross is as a first-year applicant. About 80 percent of the BBA class is enrolled as high school seniors. A select number of students are enrolled as transfer applicants from other universities, as well as from U-M.

First-year applicants should complete the Common Application as follows:

  • select a U-M first-year admitting school or college with “Preferred Admission” for the Stephen M. Ross School of Business
  • submit the Ross BBA Admissions Portfolio via SlideRoom

It may seem counterintuitive, but the first step to getting into Michigan Ross as a first-year applicant is being admitted to another school or college at the University of Michigan. Applicants who apply to the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) and select the Stephen M. Ross School of Business for Preferred Admission, if admitted to both units, will enroll in the Ross School BBA program as a Direct Admit first-year student. Students who are admitted to other U-M schools or colleges (such as the College of Engineering) and Ross will still enroll through the Preferred Admission process, but will transfer to Ross in their sophomore year. Regardless of your first-year admitting school or college here at U-M, you will take some classes at Ross as a first-year and begin your prerequisite courses.

Ross BBA applications are reviewed from February through April, but we aren’t able to review your application until you have been admitted by U-M. The majority of first-year applicants are notified of their decision between February and mid-April.
