How can a student be considered for the College of Engineering Honors Program?
Are you someone with an extraordinary academic ability? Do you possess intellectual curiosity? Do you have a clear potential to make a difference as a leader in your chosen field? The College of Engineering Honors Program may be a great fit for you! Students in the program develop academic breadth and depth while enhancing their leadership skills. Working closely with faculty and equally motivated students, program participants complete a capstone project, develop skills through Honors seminars, and make a difference through community service projects.
The Engineering Global Leadership (EGL) specialization within the Honors Program prepares students to become global leaders in engineering and business. Coursework in the Ross School of Business offers a focus in operations management, followed by a high-impact capstone project through the Tauber Institute for Global Operations. Completion of the International Minor for Engineers exposes students to the language, history, and customs of another part of the world.
Current University of Michigan engineering students are eligible to apply to the Honors Program provided they have met the following criteria:
- Completed two full-time semesters at the University of Michigan (in any school or college)
- Declared a major within the College of Engineering
- Will have at least three undergraduate semesters remaining once accepted in the program
- Have a 3.6 GPA only for students interviewing for the Engineering Global Leadership specialization of Engineering Honors
First-year students are not eligible to apply until they have completed two full-time semesters at the University of Michigan. Transfer students may apply after only one semester.
