U-M Information for Parents

I'm the parent of a prospective U-M student. Where can I find useful information?

Sending a student to college is a major life event for all families. U-M is committed to helping parents and students throughout every stage of this process.

Parents of Prospective Students: Go to the Admissions Parents & Guardians webpage to learn more about U-M's academics and costs & aid. You may also register for an information session and Central Campus walking tour, offered several times weekly, to learn more about the University of Michigan. If you're unable to attend an information session in person, you can view a recorded session online, which covers the same information.

Parents of Admitted Students: In recognition that parents and family members are an important source of encouragement and support as students enter the university, the Office of New Student Programs offers a separate parent & family orientation in addition to the required student orientation.

Parents of Current U-M Undergraduates: U-M has a website just for families of current University of Michigan undergraduates. The Parents & Families website is full of information about family resources, financial information, your student's experience, campus news, and important dates. There is also the Parents & Family Weekend where families can join their students on campus and enjoy the Michigan Experience.
