Do I need to have a health check or immunizations before attending U-M?
COVID-19
A COVID-19 vaccination requirement is in effect for all U-M students residing in Michigan Housing on the Ann Arbor campus, which requires receiving the primary series and one booster.
Beginning in fall 2023, all U-M students residing in Michigan Housing on the Ann Arbor campus are required to have received the bivalent omicron COVID-19 booster. U-M is providing medical and religious exemptions to the COVID-19 vaccination.
Other Vaccinations
All U-M students residing in Michigan Housing on the Ann Arbor campus beginning in fall 2023 are required to submit documentation showing whether they are vaccinated for the following vaccinations in line with the CDC immunization schedule:
- Measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine
- Meningococcal A (MenACWY) vaccine
- Polio vaccine
- Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine
- Chicken pox/varicella vaccine
More information will be provided to those applying for on-campus housing and on our U-M Health Response website.
For a list of other recommended immunizations for students and how to submit your immunization records to U-M, go to the University Health Service (UHS) website.
You may want to arrange for a physical exam with your home health care provider and update immunizations at that time, but a physical exam is not required by the university. (Athletic teams or clubs may have different requirements.)
