Are recommendation letters required for transfer applicants?
A recommendation letter is not required for transfer applicants to the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) unless we specifically request that you supply one. However, other schools or colleges may require one. Please go to Requirements & Deadlines on our admissions website to view additional requirements, including recommendations, if any.
We strongly encourage electronic submission of all documents through the Common Application. If recommendations are unable to be submitted online, they can be emailed to ecredentials@umich.edu (file size of attachments cannot exceed 10 MB) or mailed to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at the following address:
