What do grades "##," "Y," and "I" mean? What other special grades exist?
NR = An "NR" means "no report." An "NR" can only be assigned by the instructor. An "NR" is not calculated into the student's GPA, except for certain careers where it is converted to an "ED". An "NR" is subject to lapsing to a failing grade ("ED") for certain careers.
## = A double pound is assigned by the Office of the Registrar when credit hours or a grading basis is changed on an enrolled course after the grade roster has been created or for some study abroad courses. The instructor must submit a grade change online from the double pound to the appropriate course grade. Depending on the student's school: A double pound may or may not be calculated into the student's GPA depending on the student's career. It is also subject to lapsing to a failing grade ("ED") for certain careers.
NG = An "NG" is assigned by the Office of the Registrar when a student enrolls in a course after the grade roster has been created. The instructor must enter the student's grade through the online grade change process. An "NG" is not calculated into the student's GPA, except for certain careers where it is converted to an "ED". An "NG" is subject to lapsing to a failing grade ("ED") for certain careers.
ED = An "ED" means "unofficial drop." An "ED" is calculated into the student's GPA as a failing grade.
I, ILE, ILF, INC, IA, etc. = An "I" means "incomplete." An "I" is not calculated into the student's GPA, except for certain careers. An incomplete is subject to lapsing to a failing grade ("ILE", "ILF", "INC" "ILP") for certain careers. The “I” can only be removed if it is permissible according to school or college policy.
Y = A "Y" is used for a course that has been approved to extend past one term. A "Y" is not calculated into the student's GPA. A "Y" is subject to lapsing ("ED") for certain careers.
VI = Class was elected as Visit or Audit by the student. This grade results in no credit and is not calculated into the student's GPA.
W = Withdrawn from class.
NRC = No Record Covid. This grade was used during the COVID-19 Pandemic for non-passing grades. There is no gpa affect and no credit is awarded toward the program. This was only used in winter 2020, fall 2020, winter 2021, spring 2021, spring-summer 2021, and summer 2021.
