How do I screen share videos on Zoom?

Resolution

Sharing a video embedded on a website (i.e.: YouTube)

  1. In a meeting, as the host or a participant/co-host with sharing permissions, select the green "Share Screen" from the control panel at the bottom of your Zoom window.
  2. When the new window pops up to allow you to choose which aspect of your screen you are sharing, select either the option that shares your browser window or your entire desktop.
  3. At the bottom of the pop-up window, select "Share Sound" and "Optimize for Video Clip".
  4. Select the blue "Share" button to begin sharing your screen/the video.

Sharing a video file from your computer

Note: The following is only available on the Zoom desktop client version 5.5.0 or higher for MacOS and Windows. MP4 and MOV files are supported, and max video resolution is 1080p.
  1. In a meeting, as the host or a participant/co-host with sharing permissions, select the green "Share Screen" from the control panel at the bottom of your Zoom window.
  2. When the new window pops up to allow you to choose which aspect of your screen you are sharing, click the "Advanced" tab.
  3. Select the "Video" option.
  4. At the bottom of the pop-up window, select "Share Sound" and "Optimize for Video Clip" if they are not already selected.
  5. Select the blue "Share" button.
  6. A pop up of your files will appear to select the video file. Select the file and click "Open".
  7. Your screen will immediately transition to sharing only the video file. The video will appear in a player within Zoom, and from there you can play, pause, rewind and forward the video as you would in a typical video player. Note: If you close out of this window, your screen sharing will stop automatically and the video will close.
